It was announced on 17 June 2011, that N-Dubz had left their American record deal, among the rumours that the band had split. These rumours began circulating again in August 2011, however, Dappy insisted the band had not split, but were simply taking a break As such, during the band's break, all three members decided on embarking upon solo careers. Previous to the band's split, Dappy signed a contract with Takeover Entertainment LTD , which, confirmed that if the band ever split or went on hiatus, would mean he would continue as a solo artist. His first taste of solo stardom came as a guest artist on label-mate Tinchy stryders single, "Spaceship", which was released in June 2011. Whilst deciding upon his debut solo single, Dappy was contacted by Def Jam, asking him what he would like done with the demos of a track N-Dubz had recorded whilst under the label, which remained unreleased. As such, Dappy decided to re-record the track, "No Regrets", and release it as his debut solo effort. Featuring a cameo appearance from band-mate Fazer, "No Regrets" took the charts by storm, peaking at #1 in the UK and Scotland, and at #8 in Ireland.

Dappy found guilty

Dappy has been found guilty of affray in connection with a brawl at a petrol station. He was charged under his real name. He was also convicted by a jury at Guildford crown court in Surrey of a charge of assault by beating which involved him spitting at a man. He was cleared of two charges of common assault in which he was accused of spitting at, but missing, two 19-year-old women.

The week-long trial heard that Dappy had been out on 27 February last year celebrating the release of his single Rockstar featuring the Queen guitarist Brian May. After spending the night in the VIP area of the Casino nightclub in Guildford, Dappy was travelling back with friends in three cars to the studios in Godalming where he was recording his debut solo album when they stopped at a Shell garage in Woodbridge Road, Guildford, at about 3.30am on 28 February. Brian Stork, prosecuting, claimed Dappy approached Grace Cochran and Serena Burton, both 19, who were sitting on the kerb outside the station shop and tried to persuade them to get into the car with him to continue the party at the studios. The court was told they refused these advances and began to ridicule him, and Dappy allegedly became angry and called them sluts. He was then accused of spitting at them but missing – the two counts of common assault faced by the singer. Judge Neil Stewart adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports to be prepared on Dappy. Sentencing will be carried out on 15 February and the pair were released on unconditional bail until then.

Personal life

Dappy and tulisa are cousins. Dappy lives with his girlfriend Kaye Vassell and their two sons , Gino and milo.Gino was born in january 2009 and Dappy second son milo was born on the 10th december 2010. N-dubz was forced to reschedule some of their live shows from the Uncle B tour after Dappy was diagnosed with temporary deafness. He later said the ordeal "was terrible and it has really taught me to take better care of my ears because I wouldn't be the musician I am today if I couldn't hear". He revealed that he is a "massive" Arsenal fan when N-Dubz appeared on live from studio five, gushing "it is an honour to sit next to you" to former Arsenal striker Ian Wright who was one of three hosts on the show.

Dappy was born 11 June 1987 and Born and raised in Camden town, North London he  is now 25 today. Dappy's full name is actully Costadinos Contostavlos. Dappy is not just a singer/rapper he is also a songwriter and a actor. His father Byron Contostavlos also known as Uncle B was the one who actully helped dappy when he was younger. He helped him come off the streets and encouraged him to becaome a rapper because Uncle B wanted him to use his talents. Bryron Uncle B died on 12 April 2007 after a heart-attack. N-dubz wrote a song for him papa if you can hear me and also named him after one of thier album.
